Jon Newton has over 30 years’ experience of teaching in the independent sector. He began his career at Latymer Upper School in West London, where he taught English for eight years before moving to Eton College in 2000. He was a housemaster at Eton for 12 years, during which time he also completed a MA in Education Management. When COVID closed the physical school in 2020, he oversaw the academic side of ‘Eton Virtual’ and since 2021, he has been Deputy Head Cocurricular at Eton. On top of his managerial roles and teaching, Jon has also been fully involved in the wider life of Eton, coaching high level sport, directing plays, running debating and overseeing parts of their outdoor education programme.
